Clinical context

This calculator implements the classic Parkland-style starting estimate for first-24-hour burn resuscitation: • Adults: 4 mL × body weight (kg) × %TBSA burned • Children (in this tool): 3 mL × body weight (kg) × %TBSA burned Administration framework: • 50% in first 8 hours from time of burn • Remaining 50% over next 16 hours Important: modern burn guidelines emphasize titration to endpoints (urine output, perfusion, hemodynamics), and some protocols start with lower volumes in adults. Use this as an initial estimate only; then adjust per local burn protocol.
