Clinical context

Urine output targets are context-dependent and should be interpreted with overall perfusion status. Common bedside references: • Adults: oliguria is often defined as <0.5 mL/kg/h (e.g., KDIGO AKI criterion). • Children: expected urine output is usually higher and age-dependent (often about 1 mL/kg/h in many settings; neonates may be higher). Trends over time are more informative than single measurements.
