Norepinephrine (Noradrenaline) Infusion Calculator
Parameters
Clinical context
Norepinephrine (noradrenaline) is the preferred first-line vasopressor for most adults with septic shock and is also used for other acute hypotensive states. Assess and treat inadequate circulating volume while starting vasopressor support when clinically indicated. This calculator uses a selected norepinephrine amount and total volume to calculate pump rate. Product strengths may be expressed as norepinephrine base or as a salt; confirm that the entered amount is base-equivalent and independently verify the prepared concentration. Use continuous blood-pressure monitoring during initiation and titration, with repeated assessment of perfusion and cardiac rhythm. Excess vasoconstriction can cause peripheral, mesenteric, or myocardial ischemia. Inspect the infusion site frequently and manage extravasation immediately according to protocol. Reduce the infusion gradually when feasible; abrupt withdrawal can cause marked hypotension.
